Betty Zhang, OD

Dr. Zhang enjoys taking advantage of proximity to the mountains through hiking and skiing. Her interests include live music, running, and snuggling as many dogs as possible. She is thrilled to resume her work with visually impaired children by volunteering at the Anchor Center for Blind Children here in Denver. Dr. Zhang also speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.

Dr. Betty Zhang received her undergraduate degree at Washington University in St. Louis in Biology and Psychology. Throughout college, she volunteered at the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments, sparking her interest in eye care and the pursuit of optometry as a career. She graduated magna cum laude with her Doctor of Optometry degree from University of Houston College of Optometry; she was the recipient of numerous awards including induction into the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society for outstanding professional and ethical attitude through leadership and service to the college and profession. During her education, she completed rotations focused on ocular disease, cataract surgery co-management, and specialty contact lenses. In addition to course work, she was involved in a myriad of leadership roles and organizations, and she conducted laboratory research regarding the inflammatory pathway of dry eye disease. She has presented her research in dry eye inflammation at the national American Academy of Optometry conference. Dr. Zhang completed additional rigorous training during her residency at Omni Eye Specialists and Spivack Vision Center. She worked extensively with each specialist at Omni, receiving comprehensive instruction in the areas of refractive surgery, anterior segment disease, and posterior segment conditions.
